The world premiere in Melbourne of a new Cinderella by Alexei Ratmansky, ex-Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Resident Choreographer of American Ballet Theatre, and in 2013 the world’s most feted and in-demand ballet choreographer. Featuring 1940s-inspired designs by Jérôme Kaplan, the production wows audiences and critics with its magical transformation scenes involving dancing planets, topiary that turns into sinister metronomes, and a glittering bouffant New-Look-style ball gown for Cinderella. Ratmansky’s choreography is classical but playful, with scene-stealing parts for the Dumpy and Skinny Stepsisters.
